Footpaths

foot·path

Noun
1. a narrow path for walkers only
2. Austral a raised space alongside a road, for pedestrians

I am endeavouring not to develop bugbears here. They are rarely constructive.

I have developed one though... and predictably it's most unlikely to be constructive.

Footpaths.

Footpaths are not constructed with pedestrians in mind.
Footpaths can have phone boxes, police boxes, pot plants, signs, holes, poles, motorbikes, cars, anything at all as a matter of fact - permanent or temporary (more likely permanent) - as features to obstruct pedestrians. To be honest it doesn't make a huge difference for most people, as most people avoid walking. (If God had wanted people to walk s/he wouldn't have invented taxis or buses or songtheuws {a photo of a songtheuw another time).

See photos...these could be any road.. I didn't go far to find them with the exception of the ramp - that is an oddity - unsurprisingly I have yet to see someone in a wheelchair here.
