Hopefully

Things are looking hopeful.

The court has dissolved the government and to his credit the PM seems to be going quietly. Protesters at the airport say they are disbanding.

Hopefully it gives a face saving way out all around.
Hopefully those involved want the stalemate to end: if the views of Thai students and staff are representative, people do want it to end. Suggestion for the past week has been that people in the midst of it do want it to end too, but only on their own terms. Neither side will be fully satisfied with yesterday's outcome.

It is hard to believe that all the tension that has built up over the past week will simply evaporate though, especially while the identities of the people funding both sides remains secret. Hopefully it will give time and space for feelings to calm and for commonsense and the national interest to prevail.
